Building Managers
NOTE:
It is possible to crash the Diebold DAC server by applying more than one
schedule per building to a patron. Please review the existing assigned
schedules to avoid overlapping schedules to the same building. Ex.
If you are adding a schedule to a patron for door 1 from 8am-6pm and the person
already has an existing schedule for door 1 the 24hr access, please add or
delete so the person has only 1 schedule that is appropriate for the times
needed. Please contact us if you have any questions if you are
unsure.
Please see the appropriate schedule to determine if the person will even need
to be given access on their card based on the buildings scheduled times to be
open.

NOTE: When reporting DAC problems remember that you
are our main source of information when a problem arises.
What light was flashing on the DAC unit after you swiped your card?
Green-accepted
Red-denied
Yellow-neutral
NOTE: A person may test their card at the
appropriate doors even when the door is scheduled to be open.
Check the patrons account in CampusView to see if they have the access
privilege for the day/time they tried to access a building on their card.
-check in their access log also to
see if an error code was given.
-check the lost card code to alert
of possible situations where the most recent card obtained may not have been
used.
Check the Patrons ID card for:
-magstripe damage which may not
allow the DAC unit to read the account information on the persons card.
If there is damage the patron will have to come to obtain a new ID.
NOTE: Please contact us at the Gull Card if you have any
questions. We are here to help educate you about door access.

Doors are equipped with a Door Access Controller : DAC or a
Onity Lock.
DAC readers are mainly used on exterior access into buildings and computer
labs. DAC readers require a side swipe of your Gull Card to gain entrance.
Cards access accounts are programmed via a computer terminal by the appropriate
dept.
DAC Lock Types:
A Strike Lock- is charged only when a valid patron gains
access. The strike lock becomes a part of the door latch near the door
handle. These locks are meant only for doors that will stay locked 24
hours/7 days a week. These locks can not be set for scheduled unlock times
because the locks are not designed for this and will become inoperable.
A Magnetic Lock-is constantly charged in
order to hold he door shut. These are useful if the door needs to be
unlocked for hours at a time simply by setting up a location access schedule
that will release the charge so the door will remain unlocked. These doors
operate on specific location access schedules that are determined based on each
buildings needs.
Onity Locks are used for individual resident rooms, laundry
rooms and bathrooms. Onity readers require that you drop your card down
into the reader to gain entrance. Card are physically programmed at
various locations on campus. Check with your building manager for location
and times of encoding.
